Late June: hydrangea season
Osaka's official tourism guide lists several hydrangea events through June 28: Expo '70 Commemorative Park, The Day Osaka and Nagai Botanical Garden. Outdoor programs can change with the weather, so check the organizer before leaving.
June 30: summer purification

July 24-25: Tenjin Matsuri
